Sue "Sumiko" F. Simon

Passed away on July 02, 2025, at Huron Woods Nursing Center at the age of 95 years. Sue was born on November 15, 1929, in Kagoshima, Japan, the daughter of Hideyoshi and Shigeko Fuku. Sue married the love of her life Ronald J. Simon on October 28, 1955, in Tokyo, Japan. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2014. Sue worked at the Saginaw Civic Center for 12 years. She enjoyed cooking and loved to share her wonderful homemade dishes with family and friends. Sue had a love for animals and had a green thumb. She always had a smile on her face and a warm heart. She was the best mom and grandmother ever.

Surviving are her daughter, Angelia (Shane) Wackerle, granddaughter Alyssa Usewick, sister-in-law Rosaline Malzahn, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and a special circle of friends.

Along with her husband and parents Sue was predeceased by her son Ronald Paul Simon.

A special thank you to everyone at Huron Woods who helped mom and filled her days with fun activities and compassionate care. Also to Covenant Visiting Nurse Association for mom’s care and support.

Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed. 

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Jim Doran will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
