Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on March 17, 2025. Age 88 years.

The daughter of the late Henry and Lillian (Turner) Balzer Sr., Shirley was born August 16, 1936, in Saginaw. She married Mennel A. Pinet on February 5, 1955. Shirley worked as a cook for Bridgeport Public Schools for over 30 years and was affectionately referred to as 'the lunch lady.' She enjoyed going to the casino and cutting the grass on her tractor but above all, she cherished time spent with her kids and grandkids.

Surviving are three daughters: Michele Erway, Jan (Kevin) Kendall, and Shawn Lasecki; four grandchildren: Jennifer (John) Geiger, Christina (Robert) Licht, Michael Lasecki (Gina Huff), and Samantha Lasecki; nine great-grandchildren: Mekenna, Gwenyth, Normandy and Jack Geiger, Trebor, Gabrihanna, Bowen, and Mila Licht, and Melody Lasecki. Shirley is also survived by her siblings: Janice (Woody) Swan, Donna (John) Liss, Kathy (Gary) Schultheiss; sister-in-law Caroline Balzer, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Mennel A. Pinet, sister Nancy Modlin, brother Henry Balzer Jr., and father and mother-in-law Mennel F. and Lena (Hoeppner) Pinet.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 21, 2025, at St. Francis de Sales Parish, St. Christopher Church, 3945 Williamson Rd, Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Fr. John Mancini O.S.F.S. will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family will be received from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI 48603, as well as at the church Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of mass.
