Richard "Dick" Ross Hagarty

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on August 5, 2024, at at the age of 83 years. Dick was born on June 16, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Clifford and Sal (Alderton) Hagarty. He was a proud graduate of Hemlock High School, class of 1960. Dick married Diane Jarusel on October 28, 1961; she survives him. He proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard.  He worked as a pipefitter and welder for Dow Corning, retiring after 31 years of service. Dick never met a stranger. His outgoing personality and charm made him a friend to everyone. Dick and his family enjoyed camping all over the state. He and his wife became seasonal campers at Sage Lake after their three sons left for school. Dick loved golfing and even convinced his wife to give it a shot. She fell in love with the game and two of them spent much of their time together golfing. For the past 25 years they would spend their winters golfing in Myrtle Beach where he scored a hole in one. Dick loved all things sports. He was a little league baseball coach and an avid Hemlock High School Sports fan. He and his wife were part of the founding members of the Hemlock Sports Boosters. Dick was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary's Church in Hemlock, SOAR Chapter 12934 United Steel Workers. He was a past member of Richland Township Fire Department, the original Booster Club in Hemlock and was on the Barganing Committee for SOAR Chapter 12934.

Richard is survived by his wife and best friend, Diane Hagarty, three sons: John (Julie) Hagarty, Joseph (Annette) Hagarty, and Thomas (Karen) Hagarty; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, siblings: Judy (Roll) Neiderstadt, Jean (Don) Hollingsworth, and Patrick (Lisa) Hagarty; sister-in-law Janet (Jerry) Cline, brother-in-law Chris Adams, sister-in-law Lorraine Jarusel, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Sal Hagarty, brother John Hagarty, and sister Mary Jo Adams.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses on the 3rd Floor and 4th Floor at Covenant, as well as the Covenant VNA Hospice for their wonderful care.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Church, 151 St Marys Dr, Hemlock, MI 48626, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate the service, and a graveside service will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Hemlock. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609.
