Joan Marie Chaltraw

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away on September 21, 2025, at the age of 89 years.

The daughter of the late Elmer and Mary (Smith) Acker was born on February 18, 1936 in Saginaw. She married Dale R. Chaltraw Sr. on June 23, 1974; he predeceased her on June 14, 2013. Family was everything to Joan, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends. She lived to bring smiles to her loved ones’ faces and enjoyed catching up on all their activities and life achievements.

Surviving are her children: Kenneth Osmond, Kathy Chaltraw, Larry (Elaine) Osmond, Wesley (Angela) Osmond, grandchildren: Monica Chaltraw, Gina (Angie) Wilson, Cole (Kelsi) Osmond, Zack (Breyton) Osmond, Alexa Osmond, a bonus granddaughter Ashley Nickell who took excellent care of Joan, a great-grandson Crew Osmond, her sisters: Phyllis Scaife, Mary Lou Ball, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Besides her parents and husband, Joan was predeceased by two children: Cynthia Osmond and Roland Osmond, son-in-law Bill Shile, and stepson Dale R. Chaltraw, Jr.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 12:00 noon until the service.
