Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 90 years. The daughter of the late James and Goldie Pineau was born on February 24, 1935, in Flint. After graduating from Saginaw High School she proudly served in the United States Air Force. Ethel married Gerald Foley on June 9, 1956 and spent 47 years together. Together they went to college and Ethel earned her bachelor's degree in education. Ethel and Gerald had three children. Ethel continued her education while working as an elementary teacher at Bridgeport Public Schools and raising her children. She received her Master's degree from Saginaw Valley State University. Ethel worked with Bridgeport Schools until her retirement.
Ethel was a member of the Chippewa Tribe and belonged to the Fond Du Lac Indian Reservation. She and her sister enjoyed horses for many years and were members of the Michigan Trail Riders. Together they made the Shore to Shore journey starting with the horses stepping in Lake Michigan and ending two weeks later at Lake Huron. Ethel loved gardening, planting her entire backyard full of beautiful flowers and flowering bushes. She enjoyed crafting, ceramics, and spent hours making intricate handmade cards for all occasions. Ethel loved animals, especially her dogs and birds. She will be fondly remembered for her creative spirit, generosity, and kind heart.
Surviving are three children: Brian J. (Julie) Foley, Eileen Foley, and Keith G. Foley; grandchildren: Jason Foley, Callie Foley, Hayley Foley, and Ryan G. Foley; great-grandchild Andrew Foley, and great-great-grandchild Everleigh Foley.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Foley, grandchildren: Erin Foley and Sarah Foley; and sister Lois Lake.
Private burial has taken place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Arrangements were entrusted to W. L. Case & Company. Please share your memories and condolences with the family at www.casefuneralhome.com.
