About Us

Serving the Tri-Cities Area since 1881

Since 1881, when Frederick Eli “F. E.” Case opened his business at 409 Adams Street in Saginaw City, the Case family has served the Great Lakes Bay community. W. L. Case and Company locations now include Thomas Township, Saginaw Township, Bridgeport and Merrill, serving all of Saginaw County and its surrounds.

From 1881 to today, one thing remains constant: the presence of the Case family. F. E. Case, W. L. Case, Frederick “Fritz” Case, and Win L. Case led the way. Julie Case and Tim Swieczkowski, Win P. Swieczkowski, Mary Lou Case, David B. Case, and Rebecca L. CaseMyers carry on the family business. The Case family and staff are thankful to the community for their support and look forward to continuing that tradition.

Our History

The company has remained family owned and operated continuously, through six generations. Prior to Fred’s death in 1996, four generations of Cases worked together, a fact of which they are indeed proud. Ownership of the company now rests in the fifth generation of Julie Case Swieczkowski, Corporate Secretary, Mary Lou Case, President and David B. Case, Vice-President.

Win L. Case

1931-2019

Win L. Case, Fred’s son, remembered the years following World War II, when as a young man, he made many trips to the Potter Street Station and to the Michigan Central Station on West Genesee to bring home the bodies of young soldiers returned from overseas. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1949. He studied at Dartmouth College, the former Bay City Junior College and completed his schooling at Wayne State University School of Mortuary Science in 1956, graduating at the top of his class. Throughout his career, Win saw the funeral profession rise to many occasions in order to better serve bereaved families, including pre-arrangement and pre-payment of funeral goods and services, the aging of the baby-boomer generation and its desire for more personalized service, and the use of the internet. Win was also an avid fisherman, life member of the Wm. B. Mershon Chapter of Trout Unlimited and had served on the national Board of Directors of Trout Unlimited. His community and civic activities included serving for many years on the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank and its predecessor, Second National Bank, and on the Swan Valley School Board. He had been an active member and officer of the Pioneer Club and a member of the Fordney Club. He and his wife Mary (Richir) Case enjoyed collecting antiques, especially Saginaw advertising.
