Yvonne Couillard Root
Yvonne Couillard Root, age 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 12, 2020 in her home in Shields, MI. She was born in 1951 to the late Francis and Mary (Dearman) Couillard of Saginaw. Yvonne was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, Grandmother, sister and friend. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 45 years, William Root Jr, cherished daughter Tania (Galarno)Judd, favorite son in law Scott Judd and her adored grandson Spencer. Also, a brother, Borden (Debbie) Couillard, sister in laws Kathy Couillard and Jodi Root and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother Gilbert Couillard, sister in law Linda (Root) Abrahamn, and nephew Brian Couillard.
Yvonne was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, class of ‘69. She graduated from Harper Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, in 1971 and immediately began her career (life’s passion) as a registered nurse. She worked for a private OBGYN office where she assisted in the delivery of many babies, for 15 years. The next 25 years Yvonne spent working in the Oncology Unit at Covenant Hospital, retiring in 2015.
Yvonne lived a full life and enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, especially Danielle Steele, spending summers at her family’s lake cottage, anything James Bond and casinos (she was Tania and Jodi’s lucky charm). Most of all, she enjoyed her weekly trips to Detroit to care for her grandson Spencer.
Yvonne instilled strong values in her family that have and will continue to serve them well. She saw the good in everything and over looked the humanness in us all. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
