William Jay McMall

William J. McMall Hemlock, Michigan Passed away Monday, February 12, 2018, at Henry Ford Hospital. Age 89 years. The son of the late Marguerite L. (Packard) and Raymond A. McMall was born November 28, 1928 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Class of 1947. He married Joann Lola Hughes, July 2, 1955. She survives him. William served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952 and was a member of the American Legion. He was employed as an Electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local 557; a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church; a member of Saginaw Masonic Lodge #155 F & AM and a past president of the Masonic Retirees. He was an avid bowler and a past president of many bowling leagues. William was an avid collector of guns and knives and a past president of the Mid-Michigan Knife Collectors. Surviving besides his wife, Joann, are a son, two daughters and their spouses, Steven J. and Rebecca McMall; Sandy and Dave Hofacker; Teri Benson and her fianc, Randy Ziehmer; five grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Tangie McMall; Mark and Crystal Kirby; Rachael and Justin Lipscomb; Steve and Briana Czymbor; Matthew Benson; four great grandchildren, Britney, Chloe, Elijah and Ava; several nieces and nephews. Two sons-in-law, Walter Czymbor and Timothy R. Benson, two sisters and one brother, Shirley Pelkey, James McMall and Audrey McMall have predeceased him. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Saginaw, MI. Rev. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate with Military burial in St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of V.F. W. Post #1859. Friends may call at the Church from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral liturgy.
