William Herbert “Herb” Bock, Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at University of Michigan Health in Ann Arbor. He was 74 years old. William Herbert Bock, Jr. was born on December 10, 1951, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late W. Herbert and Marceil Doris (Beyer) Bock. He was a proud 1970 graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School. While in high school Herb worked for Jim Redmond Automotive pumping gas. By the time he was 16 years old he was working in back because he was a gifted and talented mechanic. For a short period of time he worked for General Motors – Delco Moraine (Transmission). In 1987, after receiving his Class B License to sell used cars, he became the owner and operator Bock Auto Repair on Gratiot Road. Herb had a passion for and loved drag racing. He was a past track champion at MidMichigan Motorplex (Edmore). Herb enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was quiet, quick witted, and laid back, but will forever be remembered by his family and friends as the kindest man you’d ever meet.

Surviving are his grandchildren: Jamie (Austin) Curtis of Birch Run; Ronnie Bock and his fiancée, Mya Martinus of Birch Run; a great-granddaughter, Hadleigh Curtis of Birch Run; a daughter-in-law, Angela Smith of Birch Run; a brother, Robert (Diane) Bock of Saginaw Township; a nephew, Brian (Norene) Bock of Saginaw Township; three cousins: Barb, Don, and James (Sherly) Beyer; three friends: Vic (Janice) Killingbeck of Saginaw; Carey “Skeeter” Spurbeck of Saginaw; Greg Tyra of Hemlock. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, William “Bill” R. Bock; parents, W. Herbert and Marceil Doris Bock.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his caregivers, Bridgette, Connie, and Angela for all the love and care they provided to Herb and the family.

A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI 48603. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
