     Passed away peacefully Sunday, January 1, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family. Age 86 years.

     The daughter of the late Augusta (Gregus) and John Horny Jr. was born May 25, 1936, in Hemlock, Michigan. She graduated from Hemlock High School and studied nursing. She married Raymond George Siler, February 11, 1955. He passed away on June 25, 1986.   Virginia was employed by the Merrill Public Schools, retiring as Food Service Supervisor with twenty-nine years of service. She was an active 66 year member of St. John XXIII, Sacred Heart Church, a member of its Altar Society, cooked and helped with numerous funeral luncheons. She acted as Mrs. Claus for many years. Mom loved people, she loved feeding people, visiting friends, her family, children,  grandchildren and polkas.

     Surviving are her children and their spouses,  Kathy Siler; Darlene and Dick Emery; Dennis and Mary Ann Siler; Steve and Denise Siler McComb; Karin Siler; Doug Siler; Lisa and Kurt Miller; her grandchildren, Jason and Shannon Emery; Jessica and Justin Bruin; Zachary Siler, Rachal Siler; Brian and Lisa Siler; Jonathan and Hannah Siler; Anna and Joey Bures; Patty and Phil Ottum; Raymond and Kelly Siler; Naomi and Kevin Evers; Matthew and Mareike Siler; Caolae and Brian Jones; Noah Siler; Tacie and David Sague; Lydia and Caleb Van Fossen; Tim and Hayley Siler; Titus Siler; Erin and Seth Crivac; Emily and Ben Miller; Bryce and Lindsey Miller; Josie and Jared Miller; thirty-one great grandchildren; four sisters, four brothers and their spouses, John and Sharon Horny; Rose Ann Delemeester; Jim Horny; Patricia and Fred Howe; Betty and Mike McGee; Joan Duran; Robert Horny; Donald Horny; a sister-in-law, Deanna (Dorr) Siler; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and two sons, Daniel William Siler and Dean Gerard Siler, her friend and companion, Bernie Edel; four sisters and a brother, Helen (Tobi) Breternitz, Barbara Ann Lewandowski, Mary Ann Fordos, Agnes Horny and Jimmy Horny, two brothers-in-law, Fr. Pascal Siler and William Siler.

   The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at St. John XXIII, Sacred Heart Church in Merrill. Fr. Michael Steltenkamp S. J. will officiate with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friends may then visit at the Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral liturgy.
