Obituary

Todd Gregory Rohde of Merrill, Michigan

Beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 27, 2026. He was 50 years old. Todd Gregory Rohde was born on September 11, 1975, in Saginaw, Michigan to Gregory Phillip and Kristie Sue (Kalahar) Rohde. He proudly attended and graduated from the Melvin G. Millet Learning Center in Bridgeport. Todd was a lifelong member of St. John XXII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merrill. He was an avid supporter of all Merrill athletics and the band, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on. Todd was especially devoted to his brothers, proudly attending their sporting events and enthusiastically supporting them at every home game. He had an innate ability to connect with people and became the unofficial greeter wherever he went. Christmastime held a special place in his heart, and his love for Santa Claus reflected the joy and wonder he carried throughout his life. Todd’s favorite past times were wearing multiple neckties, as well as watching his favorite television programs: Barney, Mister Rogers, and all game shows. He will forever be remembered for his beautiful smile and laugh, his love of trains, and for his love of music and family. Through it all, Todd surprised everyone by learning how to walk with the help of his entire family which gave him the gift of independence.

He was full of light, happiness, and truly lived an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are his parents, Gregory and Kristie Rohde of Merrill; two brothers: Jeremy Rohde and his fiancée, Ashleigh Bain of St. Charles; Aaron (Allison) Rohde of Saginaw; one niece and two nephews: Ellie Rohde and her fiancé, Adam Walny of Merrill; Kyle Rohde of Hemlock; Trent Rohde of St. Charles. Also surviving are countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention, but held closely to his heart.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: William and Lois Rohde and Ed and Shirley Kalahar.

A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 445 S. Midland Rd., Merrill, MI 48637. Rev. Fr. Sunil Kumar Pallela will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 125 E. Saginaw Rd., Merrill, MI 48637, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Todd will lie in state at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
