Thomas "Tom" David Schultz's Obituary

Thomas “Tom” David Schultz of Hemlock, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 70 years old. Thomas David Schultz was born on June 7, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Gerald and Donna (Oakes) Schultz. He was a proud 1973 graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School. While in high school, he met the love of his life, Debby Lynn McEwen, who happened to live around the block. They dated, fell love, and united in marriage on June 12, 1976. Tom was employed as warehouse supervisor at Denno’s Furniture, retiring after many years of loyal and dedicated service. The role he loved the most was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Tom enjoyed the outdoors, sitting around the bonfire drinking a beer, sitting in the hunting shack hunting, or relaxing on his pontoon fishing at his little piece of heaven, Crystal Lake. The jack of all trades, tom could fix and repair anything; especially fixing, painting, and working on anything with a motor. He will forever be remembered for his kindness and selflessness for anyone in need, a wonderful sense of humor, and for his innate ability to say and speak what came from his heart.

Surviving are three children: Thomas J. Schultz of St. Charles; Trisha L. Schultz of Midland; Travis R. Schultz and his fiancée, Chanel Guthrie of Shields; five grandchildren: Thomas J. Schultz Jr., Timothy J. Schultz, Taydin R. Schultz, Teighan J. Schultz, and Rylan J. Schultz; a brother, William (Mimi) Schultz of Saginaw; beloved friends, Scott and Shannon Shassberger of Crystal Lake; a sister-in-law, Doris Fleck of Six Lakes; and a brother-in-law, David McEwen of Saginaw. Also surviving are his nieces, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debby Schultz; parents, Gerald and Donna Schultz; and a brother-in-law, Bucky Fleck.

Honoring the families wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society.
