Obituary

Thomas Samuel Isom, age 58, of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away suddenly on June 20, 2026.

Thomas was born in the Detroit area on April 21, 1968, to Margie May (Morrison) Isom and the late Orville Isom. He attended the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME), graduating in 1986. Thomas then attended Northwood University, followed by Central Michigan University, where he received his Bachelor of Science. He was certified in Oracle Date Base and Networking Administration, and worked for Okemos Public Schools as Director of Technology. He enjoyed coaching for Swan Valley, where he coached youth football for over 20 years and baseball for 7 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Michelle, and they recently enjoyed a trip to Italy. He loved spending time riding his Harley Davidson, driving his Corvette, and boating with friends. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Lions. Above all else, he loved his family and loved being a “Papa”.

Thomas was united in marriage with his loving wife Michelle (Milostan) on December 31, 1988; she survives him. He is also survived by their daughter, Jessica Corliss-Isom; two grandchildren, Noelle Corliss and Brynlee Corliss; brother, Scott (Michelle) Isom; mother-in-law, Lorraine Milostan; sister-in-law, Debra Milostan-Kaluk, and brother-in-law, Allen (Darilyn) Milostan; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Nathaniel) Weingartz, Maria (Brayton) Paquette, Michael (Brenna) Kaluk, Nicholas Milostan, Emily (Bobby) Rich.

Thomas was preceded in death by his son Lucas Grant Isom; his father, Orville Isom; and his father-in-law, George Grant Milostan.

Tom was a devoted man of faith who always put his family first. He lived his life as a testament to his beliefs, finding joy and gratitude in the simple things. His greatest passion was riding his Harley Davidson with the love of his life, his wife, Michelle. He often told Michelle, there was nothing better in the world than feeling the wind on his face, the sun’s warmth, and her arms wrapped tightly around him while riding. Together they shared a love for travel, recently exploring the beauty of Hawaii, the historic landscapes of Greece, and the timeless city of Rome.

Tom’s love for his daughter, Jessica, was immeasurable. He was incredibly proud of the woman she became and cherished their times spent gabbing and joking around. Tom made it a priority to be there for Jessica and never hesitated to support her through any dream she had. The two of them were very similar, always laughing, joking, and picking on each other whenever they were together. Tom put Jessica first in life and made sure she was never hurting or struggling. He always knew just what she needed and their daddy-daughter bond was more special than most.

His role as “Papa” to granddaughters, Noelle and Brynlee, brought him boundless joy. He loved playing with them, making them laugh, and cuddling on the “big bed.” He read to them often, with one girl on each side, making memories, cuddling and snuggling before bed. He was always looking out for the two of them, making sure they had the skills and confidence to be successful in life, even though they were still young. He was always thinking about how he could help them or make life easier for them, just like he always did for their mom.

Beyond his family, Tom loved gathering with his friends. He cherished days and nights spent out on the lake with friends, evenings laughing and playing music at the Tiki Bar, numerous cookouts and bonfires, doing motorcycle rides and golf outings for charity, and hanging out at “the coop” to cheer on the Detroit Lions.

With a deep love for children and community, Tom dedicated years of his life to youth sports. He proudly served on the board for the youth football program and spent several seasons as a coach. He treasured the lasting impact he made, especially when former players would run up to him years later, excitedly hollering, “Hey, Coach!” He cherished a trip he did with his son, Lucas, traveling through several states to see nine baseball games in 11 days.

Tom’s legacy of love, faith, camaraderie, and devotion to his family will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
