Theodore Armin Rinness

Theodore "Ted" Armin Rinness Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the age of 73 years. Ted was born in Saginaw on September 3, 1949, to the late Armin Rinness and Lorraine (Strieter) Rinness. He was a proud 1967 graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School. Ted earned varsity letters for both football and baseball. In 1966, his football team went on to be the White Pine Conference Champions. He worked at General Motors for 26 years with dedication and loyal service. Anything Ted put his mind to, he would jump in with both feet and give it his all. Ted was passionate about history, especially the Civil War. He traveled the United States extensively in search of historical landmarks, museums and battlefields. His favorite place by far was Gettysburg to which he took many trips. In addition, Ted spent many hours over three decades researching and documenting our family's genealogy. He was an active "georger" attending gatherings and entering the serial numbers of one-dollar bills at www.wheresgeorge.com on his account and distributing them on his travels and exchanging marked bills for new bills at different banks; his personal moniker was Tëd. Through the years, he was an avid reader, amateur photographer, baseball card and coin collector, car enthusiast, Detroit Tiger fan, and also enjoyed bowling, golfing, softball, skiing, snowmobiling, and camping. Ted enjoyed traveling with his family, as well as attending family events, especially his nieces and nephews sporting and school activities. He will always be remembered for being loving, generous, independent, dedicated, and family oriented.

Surviving are sisters and brothers: Peggy (Dennis) Histed of Midland, Sally (Donald) Efu of Saginaw, Tom Rinness (Joni King) of Bay City, Todd Rinness of Saginaw; nieces and nephews: Tammy (Gray) Chambers, Timothy Histed, Benjamin (Bobbi Jo) Histed, Bethany (Josh) Spegel, Angi (Jason) Aurand, Amber Efu, Rachael Rinness, Alex Rinness; eleven great-nieces and nephews; five great-great-nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant brother: Timothy Rinness and sister-in-law: Paula Smeltzer.

Honoring Ted's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603. Rev. William J. Rudd will officiate.
