Milda Marie Persons of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her home with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. She was 97 years old. Milda Marie Schiefer was born on May 17, 1929, in Frankentrost Township, Saginaw County, Michigan, to the late William L. and Ida K. (Bernreuter) Schiefer. She was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School. Milda married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Floyd R. Persons, on March 31, 1952; he preceded her in death on October 27, 2008. She held various working positions, but the role of her lifetime was being and loving and devoted wife, mother, and especially grandmother. Milda was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a current member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She selflessly served her community as a volunteer at Bethesda Thrift Store and the Redeemer Lutheran Church fish fry and funeral luncheons. Milda was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading romance books. She was a member of a local bowling league for many years, enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, and a fan of the Detroit Tigers.

Surviving are a daughter, Connie Poynter; grandson, Patrick Gray; great-grandchildren: Matthew Gray and Emma Gray. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Persons; a son, Brian Persons; a daughter, Kathy Conde; a son-in-law, Joel Poynter; a grandson, Michael Gray; and five sisters: Alvina, Julia, Marion, Vera, and Donna.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Covenant at Home for all the love and care they proved to Milda and the family.

A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Gary Bender will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
