Terry A. Laux of Saginaw Township, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper. He was 74 years old. Terry Arthur Laux was born on November 2, 1949, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Maloney) Laux. As a young boy, he attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and later Grand Rapids Catholic Central where he graduated in 1967. A proponent of education, Terry then attended Grand Rapids Junior College for two years, Grand Valley State University for a year, and later attended and proudly graduated from Aquinas College in 1971, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. He serendipitously met the love of his life, Jan Sue Davis, on a Friday night at a gathering with friends in the library parking lot. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on July 1, 1972, in Saginaw, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church; she survives him. In 1972, Terry began working at Saginaw Steering Systems/Delphi, retiring on July 1, 2005, from plant 6 as a quality control worker. The role of his lifetime, one he treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Terry was a longtime member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He civically served his community by volunteering at Pit and Balcony Theater where he helped build and design sets for plays. An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed hunting, camping, as well as traveling to Florida, Alabama, Hawaii, and other various places throughout the U.S. Terry held a special place in his heart for animals, especially all of the Boston Terrier pups he and Jan parented together. He also enjoyed spending time driving his 1968 Chevrolet II Nova SS and traveling to countless car shows. A family man at heart, Terry’s passion and love was spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his kindness to anyone in need, for having the best laugh in the entire world, for always being patient without any worries, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Jan S. Laux of Saginaw Township; two sons: Matt (Carol) Laux of St. Charles; Mark (Sarah) Laux of Saginaw Township; four grandchildren: Mikayla Laux of St. Charles; Kelly Laux of St. Charles; Mira Laux of Saginaw Township; Roman Laux of Saginaw Township; a sister, MaryAnn (Dan) Verdebar of Plymouth; a brother, David (Cindy) Laux of Flushing; a brother-in-law, Randy (Kim) Davis of AuGres; his beloved dogs: Ruby and Sally. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Elizabeth Laux; father- and mother-in-law: Russell and Ruth Davis.
A funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate.
