Giessel, Susie Blanch Saginaw, MI Passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Cartwright Care Residence, age 97 years. Susie was born in Alpena, Michigan on April 6, 1917 the daughter of the late George Arthur and Blanche (Egle) Smith. She married Willard Henry "Gus" Giessel September 19, 1940. He predeceased her November 15, 1994. She was a member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. Susie volunteered at Healthsource of Saginaw. Susie is survived by her daughter, Cathy Sue Giessel, Fenton, Michigan, her son, Richard S. (Cathy) Giessel, Anchorage, Alaska; three grandchildren, Peter A. (Taryl) Giessel, Eagle River, Alaska, Elisabeth A.(Bill) Murphy, Kentwood, Michigan and David S. Giessel, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; four great-grandchildren, Callie, Lilah, Seth and Holly; many nieces and nephews, including Hedy (Bill) Martin, (and their children, Melanie, William, Jr., Danielle and Andrew), Lori (Steve) Schneider (and their children, Austin and Anna), Thomas Kretchmer, Julie (Teddy) Rentrop, Susan Greene, Linda Boelter, Roy (Phyllis) McNeil, Shirley Mischley, Lana Meredith, Michael Smith, Patrick Smith, Gene (Donna) Smith and Ardath Snitgen; many great-nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Madelyn Campbell. In addition to her husband, Susie was predeceased by 11 siblings. The funeral service will take place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., where friends may visit with the family Saturday from 2:00 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Giessel's son, Richard, will officiate. Burial will take place at 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 in Oakwood Cemetery.
