Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper at the age of 68 years. The daughter of the late Edward and Arlene (Allen) Fritz, Shirley was born on June 20, 1952 in Boyne City, Michigan. Shirley married Dennis Costello on April 11, 2003 in Saginaw, Michigan. They shared 28 wonderful years together. She retired after many years from Swan Valley Schools. Shirley enjoyed shopping, cooking and taking pictures, especially of her grandchildren. Above all, Shirley cherished the time spent with her family.

Surviving besides her husband of 17 years Dennis, are five children and their spouses; Heidi Sitts (Wade Roberts); Michele (Jim) Blake; Mike (Marci) Costello; Angie (Jim) Luth; Nick (Sarah) Costello; seventeen grandchildren: Robert (Ammanda), Michael, Paige, Mariah, Tyler (Bree), Anthony (Kaitlin), Meah, Whitley, Wynn, Bryson, Aidan, Emma, Adam, Ethan, Anna, Zaniyah, Ava; three great-grandchildren: Cole, Kenna, and Braylee. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a son Rick Mielke and a grandson Joseph Meredith.

Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Paul Hinz will officiate. Honoring Shirley’s wishes, cremation will follow. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Due to the Worldwide Health Pandemic, State guidelines will be followed.
