Obituary

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, twin sister, aunt and friend passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, May 7, 2026, after a brief illness. She was 72 years old.

The daughter of the late Williard and Eleanor Klein. Sharon was born September 12,1953 in Saginaw, MI. She married Frank J. Golz on April 17, 1971, and they shared 52 years of marriage together before his passing in 2023. They were truly each other's soul mates. Sharon being the calm and collected one putting up with all of Frank's jokes and antics.

Sharon was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church serving on the Altar Guild for many years. She never wavered in her Faith, reminding everyone that “God works in mysterious ways” and fully believing that Heaven was her true home. Sharon retired from the Former Michigan Bell, which later became ATT, where she met many good friends whom she still stayed in contact with after retirement.

You wouldn't know Sharon without her sidekick and twin sister, Sheila, who was older by 5 minutes. They were two peas in a pod. It was always a joke that Frank had two wives, Sharon and Sheila. You rarely saw one without the other and they had an unbreakable bond that nothing could come between. When they were teenagers, Sharon donated one of her kidneys to Sheila, which she still has. Sheila will forever carry around a true piece of Sharon wherever she goes.

Sharon enjoyed motorcycle rides on Frank's Harley and countless trips to go “ching-chinging” at the casino with Sheila and longtime best friends, Dale and Marilyn Vincent. She enjoyed visiting and getting together with some of the best neighbors that anyone could ask for. She loved camping trips in Caseville for Cheeseburger Fest and dressing up for every holiday, especially Halloween, always making sure everyone had some beads or glowsticks for the occasion. She always wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of before herself with enough to eat and drink. Sharon was known for her spaghetti salad and taco salad that she loved to take to family picnics and barbecues. Sharon, stoic in nature, had that go-with-the-flow attitude and never sweated the small stuff. She was a true friend to everyone she was around. Sharon was a devoted mother and enjoyed most being with her granddaughter, Aryan, who she often referred to as her Tootie, supporting her in all her sporting events, school functions and taking her shopping.

Sharon is survived by one daughter Angela Opalacz and her significant other Korey Kasper; one granddaughter Aryan Opalacz; her twin sister Sheila Klein; sisters-in-law Kathy Klein, Kay Dudek, Rita (Tom) Kirchner and brother-in-law Larry (Mary) Golz. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends who she cared deeply for.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Golz; parents Williard and Eleanor Klein; and brothers Gary, Dave and Bob Klein; mother-in-law and father-in-law Anne and Fred Thompson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Barb and Bob Wargo, Marlene and Samuel Davenport, Frank (Junior) Dudek, and John Golz.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Doctors, nurses and staff at Covenant-Harrison 2nd floor and ICU for the care and support given to Sharon and her family during the last month.

Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 pm on Friday, May 15, 2026, at W. L. Case & Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603.
