Sequana Flores

Sequana Flores of Merrill, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister passed away at her home on Monday, November 7, 2022. She was 85 years old. Sequana Samaniego was born on March 7, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Fernando and Cruz (Martinez) Samaniego. She met the love of her life, Geronimo Flores, while attending his future brother-in-law's wedding. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 31, 1957. The role of her lifetime was to be a loving and cherished wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devoted Christian her entire life, as well as a faithful and longtime member of Bible Baptist Church of Merrill. She selflessly served her community as a missionary and advocate for over 60 years where she was integral in volunteering for youth summer programs, Vacation Bible School, and represented the Latin American Baptist Association of Detroit throughout various gatherings. Her little piece of heaven was spending time in her flower garden and playing dominos with her family. She will forever be remembered for her Christian activism, for her love of family, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Geronimo Flores of Merrill; four children: Geraldine (Joe Sr.) Jimenez of Saginaw; Albert (Ann) Flores of Hemlock; Avelina (Felix) Garcia of Saginaw; Debbie (Antonio) Salcedo Jr. of Merrill; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; three sisters: Laurie (Raymond) Dzuba of Saginaw; Delores Ramirez of Saginaw; Rosaria Valdez of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Dalia Samaniego of Saginaw.

Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and many brothers and sisters in Christ. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Antonio, Felix, Fernando Jr. (Maria) Samaniego, Jessie (Eva), and Juan Samaniego; four sisters: Sopopa Samaniego, Frances (Daniel) Hernandez, Maria (Ismael) Gutierrez, and Amparo (Julio) Gonzalez.
