Scott Terrance Spica passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 7, 2024, at the age of 60 years. He leaves behind a legacy of love as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
The son of Karen Schutter and the late Ronald Spica, Scott was born on March 4, 1964, in Wiltshire, England. He was a proud graduate of St. Charles High School, class of 1982. Scott married the love of his life Kathleen Marie Hollenback on September 29, 1990 and together had a son, Scott Edward Spica; Scott’s pride and joy. He retired from a fulfilling career as a pipefitter.
Scott loved the great outdoors, especially hunting. He was also very passionate about sports and could always be found cheering on his son playing baseball and following his favorite sports teams, the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. His warm-hearted nature and infectious humor provided comfort and joy to those around him, even during difficult times.
Scott is survived by his wife Kathleen (Hollenback) Spica; his son, Scott Edward Spica, Midland, MI; sister, Stephanie (Rodney) Izzo Venice, FL; nieces Carmen Izzo, Austin, TX, and Veronica Izzo, Sarasota, FL; mother, Karen L. Schutter; uncles Tim Sauls and Terry (Esther) Fuller; sister-in-law, Sherry (Brian) Hales; brother-in-law, Andy Hollenback; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Edward Spica; parents-in-law, James and Loretta Hollenback; grandparents, A.L. and Beulah Sauls, Ruth (Eimers) Fuller, and Edward Spica; and aunt, Jackie Shea.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Compassus for their compassion and empathy in caring for Scott during his final days.
Honoring Scott’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N Miller Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
