Scott James Darland of Zilwaukee, MI
Loving husband, father, and brother passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, in Saginaw at the age of 60. Scott was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 11, 1963, to the late Ruth (Dougherty) Darland and James Darland. Scott graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1981. He worked in the family business, Progressive Installers, Inc. for 23 years before retiring in 2008. He was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 7-Zone 3. In 1987, Scott met Terry through his sister-in-law Sandy and they got engaged on New Year’s Eve. They married on March 18, 1988.
Scott enjoyed watching his son play hockey, was an avid reader, loved country music and was passionate about Chevy trucks, owning over 20 in his lifetime. Scott vacationed at the family cabin on Crystal Lake, where he enjoyed pontoon rides and campfires. He is remembered as having a big personality and a bigger heart, sharing his sense of humor and stories with his friends and family.
Scott is survived by his wife of 35 years, Terry Darland; son Scott Darland; father James Darland; siblings Leisha Dougherty and Shaun (Sandy) Darland; siblings-in-law Mike (Peggy) Fisher and Kristi (Brian) Wrobel; father and mother-in-law Ron and Judy Fisher; and nieces and nephews Abby, Molly, Jacob, Wes, Tyler, Austin, Alex and baby Frank; as well as many other family members, friends, and his two dogs Bear and Teddy.
The family would like to give special thanks to the medical staff of Covenant Cooper, especially the critical care unit, for their exceptional care of Scott. In accordance with Scott’s wishes, there will be no memorial service and cremation has taken place.
