Samuel Reid

    Passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024.  At the age of 94 years.

    The son of the late Mary (Mc Cloy) and Alfred Charles Reid was born November 22, 1929, in Saginaw, Michigan.  He graduated from Arthur Hill High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.   He married Laura D. Muirhead, September 11, 1954. She passed away, August 13, 1988. Samuel was employed by the Saginaw News, retiring with 44 years of service. He had been a member of First Presbyterian Church and an active leader in the Boy Scouts for over 20 years. He earned the Silver Beaver award.  He enjoyed playing volleyball, basketball, baseball, golfing and bowling. He participated in the Senior Golf League at Crooked Creek for many years. He was also an accomplished woodworker.

     Surviving are a daughter and a son, Deborah Reid Harvey; Scott Michael Reid; three grandchildren, Melissa and Laura Harvey, Douglas Bouffard; a sister, Barb Wilber; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Reid. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Scott Harvey, a granddaughter, Kristina Bouffard, two brothers, Harry and Charles Reid and a sister, Mary Young.

     The funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd.  Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate with Military Honors in under the auspices of American Legion Post 439. Friends may visit with family at the chapel from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the charity of their choice.  www.casefuneralhome.com
