Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 85 years.
Ruth was born on November 3, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of the late Lewis A. and Elizabeth (Murdock) Perry. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School, class of 1957. Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Randy Scheib, on October 11, 1958. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2021. Ruth was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Germania Town and Country Club. She worked at Draper's for three years and the Swan Valley School District for 30 years, the majority of it as a teacher's aide in Scooby Doo Preschool at Haven's Elementary School. She helped to shape many young lives during her time as an aide, guiding a generation of children, as well as their children, in readiness to continue their educational journey. Many times, out and about, students would see her and run up to give her a hug and a smile. Even her former students, now into adulthood, would be excited to see her and stop to say hi, showing the lasting impact she had on their lives. Ruth enjoyed many years at the family cottage at Torch Lake, surrounded by her children and grandchildren and enjoying the summers up north. Ruth was an avid reader and also enjoyed playing and teaching piano, going to the movies and lunching with the ladies from school.
Surviving Ruth are her brother, Edwin Perry; son, Randy (Johnnie Sue) Scheib of Silver Springs, Florida; daughter, Jennifer Hanson of Saginaw; daughter, Jayne Scott of Waterford; and son Raymond (Anne) Scheib of Bath; eleven grandchildren, Justin Scheib, Jordan Scheib, Eileen (Trevor) Demijohn, Randy (Stephanie) Scheib, Dana Hanson, Tyler (Rachel) Scott, Chelsea (Austin) Soper, Haley Scott, Carolyn (John) Sinclair, Benjamin Scheib and Colin Scheib; and nine great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Margaret Scheib.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many people who touched Ruth's life in a special way. Claudia Zacharek, MD, Winnie Angir-Sisco, NP, the staff of Fresenius Kidney care, especially Darcy, RN, who was always there when we needed assistance, the staff of HealthSource Saginaw including Natalia the miracle worker, nurses, especially Jennifer and Sandy and too numerous to name nurse aides and other staff who lovingly took care of her. Heartland Hospice staff thank you for guiding us and caring for mom through her end of life. Each one of you brought us comfort and care through this journey.
Honoring Ruth’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No services will be held. Interment will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery, Saginaw where Ruth will be laid to rest with her husband, Randy. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Saginaw County Commission on Aging (Meals on Wheels), HealthSource Saginaw, or Heartland Hospice of Midland, Michigan.
