Ronald Syktich "Ron"

Our loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023, with his wife and two daughters at his side. Age 73 years.

Ron was born on July 6, 1950, son of the late Harry and Pauline (Legros) Syktich, in Philipsburg, PA. He married Cecilia Mattes on June 5, 1976. She survives him. After 30 years of driving semi truck for Nash Finch, Ron AKA “Penny Pincher” retired. Ron was an avid car enthusiast, a member of the Tri-County Street Rods, the National Hot Rod Association and had a special gift when it came to cars. He could build a car from the bare minimum and create a masterpiece. Ron attended many car shows and races, winning trophies and awards over the years. Being a proud father, he was supportive, assertive and a hardworking provider for his family. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Ron will forever be loved and dearly missed. He will be remembered for having a big heart, loving spirit and a great sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife, Cecilia Syktich; daughters, Andria (Kirk) Hanning and Tracy (Ryan) Gilliland; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Conor and Kelcie Gilliland; sister, Nancy Hartzfeld; brother, Greg Syktich; many other special relatives. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law. Dale Hartzfeld.

Honoring Ron’s wishes cremation and private celebration of life have taken place. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Heart Association, American Cancer Association or American Lung Association.
