Obituary

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Wellspring of Frankenmuth. He was 81 years old. Ronald John Powrozek was born on April 3, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan to the late John and Stephanie (Styczynski) Powrozek. He was a 1956 graduate of St. Thomas High School in Detroit. Following graduation, he proudly enlisted into the Army serving his country in active military for two years, then an additional eight in the United States Army Reserve. He married Lucee J. Beaubien on May 14, 1960; she preceded him in death on December 28, 2001. He later married Nancy Lee (Gillis) Smith on October 26, 2006; she preceded him in death on February 20, 2017. Ron was a faithful member at St. Francis de Sales Parish - St. Christopher Catholic Church. He was a man that believed in service throughout his life and he actively volunteered for the Saginaw Habitat for Humanity. Ron also volunteered with mission trips; traveling to many places that suffered a disaster. He also enjoyed playing Euchre. Above all, Ron loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters and a son: Shannon (Terrence) McInerney of Birch Run; Brad (Marcia) Powrozek of Indian River; Devon (Mark) Godbey of Huntington, WV; eight grandchildren: Chad (Alicia) Brewster, Kyle Brown, Ben (Courtney) Quick, Dustin Powrozek, Amanda Godbey, Jeff Powrozek, Adam Powrozek, and Brooke Powrozek; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Billie Jo Powrozek of Indian River; one brother, Norbert (Terri) Powrozek; a sister-in-law, Dolores Powrozek; three step-children: Steve (Julie) Smith, Scott (Cristi) Smith, Sue (Dean) Kukla; three step-grandchildren: Fisher Smith, Alli Kukla, and Tia Kukla. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, David Joseph Powrozek and Gregory Michael Powrozek; two grandsons, Eric Brown and Joseph Quick; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Rae Powrozek; a brother, Richard Powrozek. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. John Mancini, OSFS, will officiate. Rite of Committal and Military Honors will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Army and VFW Post #1859. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Francis de Sales Parish.
