Obituary

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away on November 24, 2025 at the age of 78 years.

The son of the late Albert and Ada (Schiefer) Loesel was born on October 17, 1947 in Saginaw, and was raised in Frankenmuth. Ron attended, graduated from, and played football at Alma College where he was a member of the conference championship teams during his junior and senior years. He earned his CPA, and later his MBA, from Saginaw Valley State University. He retired from Davenport University where he taught for over 30 years. He married the love of his life, Gayle, on September 20, 1986; she survives him.

Ron was a past member of the Lions Club, enjoyed watching and playing sports including golf, racquetball, football, and softball, as well as watching his children and grandchildren play sports or participate in any activities.

His confidence in crossword puzzles was renowned. The man did the New York Times Crossword in ink. He loved a good computer game, a beautiful scenic drive along the lake shore, a rare steak, a dry martini, old scotch, a good glass of wine, and potatoes loaded with flavor. Ron was also well known for his love of animals, especially his treasured dogs, who he was sneaky about feeding at the table, but we all saw. He loved them the best of us all. Except maybe his spoiled wife.

Surviving, besides his wife, Gayle, are his treasured children: Matthew (Donna) Loesel, Tricia (Mike) Gorde, Jennifer (Denny) Bedard, and Chad (Wren) Loesel, Erin (Jason) Stockwell-Jansen, Christine Stockwell; his grandchildren: Caleb & Elijah, Gabriel; Brynn, Tommy & Tae; Melissa, Charles, & Noah; Kyla, Juli, & Hailee. Ron also leaves several great-grandchildren, including one on the way.

Ron will be missed by his sister-in-law Elaine Loesel, many nieces, nephews, relatives and so many friends.

Ron’s love was quiet and steady. His wit was always on display from his infamous Christmas letters dripping with satire or his smart witted one liners that kept everyone grounded. Ron was the one that was there for his family and was always there for his children. He was the one person the family always relied on when someone needed to talk. He loved his family fiercely, and no matter how close or far away they lived, he always somehow knew what was happening in their lives.

He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Alice (Val) Nowak, Arthur Loesel, brother-in-law Gary Coffel and his faithful dogs, Ivy and Rupert. Rest in Peace Otto. We will never know another.

In accordance with Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a family memorial will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Alma College Athletic Association, Saginaw County Animal Rescue, East Side Soup Kitchen, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors. Please share your words of condolence with the family at www.casefuneralhome.com
