Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodney Richard Corbat, who departed this life on April 24, 2026, in Breckenridge, Michigan, at the age of 76. Born on December 20, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan, to John "Joe" and Agnus (Bow) Corbat, Rodney lived a life defined by compassion, love, and generosity. In 1974, he married the love of his life, Marianne Brown, and together they built a family rooted in devotion and warmth.

From a young age, Rodney found peace in the outdoors, developing a deep love for farming, gardening and hunting. For many years, he lived on a farm where he raised cows and tended to the land he cherished. Beyond his beloved cows, his greatest pride came from his children and grandchildren. He was known for showing support at his grandchildren's sporting events and his presence was a constant source of encouragement and joy.

Rodney’s kind and giving nature touched everyone who knew him. He was always ready with a helping hand or a thoughtful word, and his steady, uplifting spirit brightened the lives around him. His memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Marianne; his children, Julie (Matt) Sobieski, Jillian (Jeff) Westall, and John (Heather) Corbat; and his grandchildren, Carson and Graham Sobieski, Morgan and Avery Westall, and Gavin and Collin Corbat. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Wilkin, Cathy (Don) Wing, Chris (Kent) Sanders, and Maureen Demijohn, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Rodney’s family was the cornerstone of his life, and his love and dedication to them never wavered.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Corbat.

Rodney leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, compassion, and genuine care for others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. Though he may be gone, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, and his memory will continue to guide and inspire. We will always remember the joy and warmth he brought into our lives.

In keeping with Rodney’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date, where he will be laid to rest at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Hemlock, Michigan.
