Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the age of 93 years. The son of the late Durward and Veronica (Pilerski) Carroll, Bob was born on September 1, 1928 in Alpena, Michigan. Bob proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps. He married Frieda W. Dakoski on September 20, 1954; she preceded him in death on April 27, 2019. Bob owned and operated Tubby's TV for many years. He worked at C&O Railroad for 29 years of loyal and dedicated service until he retired. Robert Carroll was a man who delighted in God's Creation. In the boat both early and late, he loved to fish—on Lake Huron, in the Manistee River, on Floyd Lake. Where there were water and fish, there Bob (Dad, Grandpa) loved to be and bring his family and friends along. His children (and their spouses), grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are grateful for his sharing his love and passion with them by sharing many long hours on the water. They are grateful for the man who was a fisher and the God who made both our dear fisher and who calls us to be fishers of men. We remember your voice and words over the water, and we look forward to hearing them again in Heaven, with our Lord and Savior, Maker of the Great Lakes and all the waters of the world. He enjoyed Frieda's cooking, gardening, and hunting. Above all, Bob cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Surviving are his children: Marsha Nucian, Theresa (Michael) Felsing, Tami (Mark) Solak; grandchildren: Jeremie (Celeste) Solak, Hilary (Nathan) Hall, Nicolette (Sanjay) Rai, Bradley Clark, Cara Nucian; great-grandchildren: Eva (Elijah) Moorman, Julian Solak, Langston Solak, Ari Solak, Soren Solak, Jack Beren Solak, Beatrice Solak, Evelyn Hall, Hazel Hall, Yerusha Rai, Abagail Rai, Boaz Rai, Tristan Nucian; and one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild on the way. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bob was predeceased by his granddaughter: Brandi Clark and his great-grandson: Emmeth Solak and others.
A private funeral service will take place at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Military Honors will take place under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post 22. Entombment will take place at Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum.
