Robert Theodore (Bob) Meyer, husband, father, papa, and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. He was born in Freeland, Michigan, to his loving parents Theodora Cornelia and Fredrick Richard Meyer.
Bob led an adventurous life, marked by his uncharted travels and the joy he found in his many hobbies as a farmer, John Deere collector, jewelry crafter, historical reenactor, and his “unique” approach to small game hunting. Bob also took pride in his Native American and European lineage as well as his service for his country in the United States Army.
Bob’s life on Earth was marked by his dedication to General Motors as a forklift operator for 48 years. Among Bob’s proudest accomplishments was being a founding member and President of the Great Lakes Historical and Education Association. He was also a member of the Michilimackinac Voyagers. Bob's passion for education and knowledge of history shone through all aspects of his life.
He is survived by his wife Elaine (Foutch) Meyer; former wife Tudy Meyer; children Anthony Meyer and Tammy Meyer; stepdaughter Autumn (James) Mitchell and stepson Matthew (Jesie) Foutch; and his three grandchildren (“worms”). Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Cathrine Short and Fredrick Meyer Jr.; and his son Robert Theodore Meyer Jr.
Bob's legacy of hard work, theatrics, spirited antagonism, and love for history and the land will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
