Robert L Parks, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2025. Bob was born on March 14, 1943, in Lake City, TN, the son of the late Robert Lee and Mary Helen (Leinart) Parks. He graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit, MI in 1961.

Bob married the love of his life, Gail A. Parks, on June 22, 1968, and started a life and family in Detroit, MI. He spent most of his life working skilled trades (scraping machines & machine repair) and raising and caring for their horses on their family farm.

Bob was a proud Army Veteran during the Vietnam War and served with honor. He lived a life of dedication and service. His time in Vietnam was marked by courage and resilience, and he returned home a proud Veteran. Bob’s military service instilled in him a strong sense of duty and responsibility, which he carried with him throughout his life. He was known for his hard work and integrity. He loved life, family and friends.

He enjoyed bowling, baseball, watching birds and stormy days. Bob was an avid collector of unique and fascinating items, books and memorabilia. He enjoyed cruising around in his Corvette, and watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow, learn, and succeed.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support. He was a pillar of strength for his family, always there to offer a helping hand or a listening ear. He had a gentle spirit, was kind hearted, and a little sassy.

Bob was a devoted family man and is survived by his lovely wife of 56 years, Gail King Parks, whom he loved and cherished; his loving children, Christina (Cliff), Kelli (Jerry), and Alisa (Kurt); grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Tyler, Trevor, Zachary (Rashel), Caitlin and Jayla; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Rhett and Callan; brother, William Parks; sisters, Mabel Macudzinski, Mona (Andy) Lambiris and Betty Karaginides; brother-in-law, John (Lynne) King, his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, all his barn family that he loved dearly, and all others who have touched his life.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Barbara (Tackett) Parks, and brother-in-law, Eugene W. Macudzinski

You are welcome to join the family for a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd. Holly, MI 48442.
