Robert "Bob" Lee Warner

Robert "Bob" Lee Warner of Naubinway, formerly of Saginaw

Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Toni & Trish House. He was 94 years old. Robert was born in Saginaw on July 30th, 1929, to the late Charles Sr. and Alice (Gehrcke) Warner, and was a 1948 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Shortly after graduating, Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served for four years aboard the USS Harry F. Bauer during the Korean War. He married Marie Zietz on November 24th, 1951, and the two would spend over 71 years together. She preceded him in death on April 8th, 2023. Bob was a builder for most of his life, working for his father before and after his service in the Navy, and then for AC Gehrcke & Sons for over 20 years. Bob enjoyed fishing on the Black River in the U.P., where he had been going since his childhood. He loved the area so much that he and Marie retired to Naubinway where they resided for almost 30 years. He loved playing cards, the Saginaw Horse Races, and going to the Casino. To know him was to love him. Bob always enjoyed a good time and spending time with family and friends was most important to him.

Bob is survived by children: Randy Warner of Daytona Beach, FL; and Gale Schrotenboer of Freeland; four granddaughters; Jamie (Brandon) List, Sara (Zac) Birnbaum, Amy (Joe) Burch, and Jenny Warner; seven great-grandchildren Callie List, Braxton List, Jordon Burch, Justin Burch, Tyler Warner, Quay Warner, and Shaniyah Warner; and sisters-in-law: Sandy Warner, Erna Sanders, and Yvonne Zietz; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Lloyd Schrotenboer; brothers, Charles Warner Jr. and Donald Warner; sisters-in-law: Helen Warner; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Zietz and Jerry Sanders.

As per Bob's wishes, cremation will follow the service. He and Marie's cremated remains will then be entwined together for eternity and buried at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at New Hope, Cardinal Hospice, and Toni & Trish for their care and compassion.

A Celebration of Bob's life will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Military Honors will be rendered under the auspices of the United States Navy and American Legion Post #439.
