Robert “Bob” C. Reynolds of Merrill, Michigan
Beloved father, dzia dzia, brother, uncle, and friend passed away at his home on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was 81 years old. Bob was born on March 7, 1944, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Chester and Gertrude (Tomkowiak) Reynolds. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic Schools, graduating from Saginaw High School. On June 2, 1964, Bob was inducted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, serving honorably until his discharge on June 1, 1967. Upon his return, he began working for General Motors, retiring after 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. The role he treasured and cherished the most was to be a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bob was a longtime and faithful member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church in Hemlock. He loved the Great Lakes Loons and was a season ticket holder. Bob also enjoyed going to Disney World in Florida, golfing, the casino and attending concert dinner shows. He will forever be remembered as a gifted storyteller, for his wonderful sense of humor, his ability to negotiate “senior” or “veterans” discounts, for still waiting to WIN the lottery, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many wonderful memories.
Surviving are four children: Kerry (Mike) Mercier, Brian Reynolds, April Swarthout, Alesha Mogerman; nine grandchildren: Brayden (Maddie), Brennah, Noah, Cole, Hannah (Tanner), Ian, Timothy, Stone, and Joshua; eight great-grandchildren: Oliver, Evelyn, Abel, Hazel, Liam, Violet, Mavis, and August; a brother, Timothy (Jo) Reynolds; and a special friend, Leigh Ann Oswald. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Reynolds and Gertrude and Harold McCray.
Honoring Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Sunil Kumar Pallela will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps and American Legion Post 22. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Disabled American Vets (DAV) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at the funeral home or through www.casefuneralhome.com.
