Robert “Bob” L. Poineau of Zilwaukee, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at MyMichigan – Saginaw. He was 71 years old. Bob was born on August 16, 1954, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Alfred Henry and Donna Joy (Toronjo) Poineau. He married the love of his life, Eva “Maggie” M. Martin, on November 22, 1975, in Zilwaukee, Michigan; she survives him. Bob was employed as a mechanic with Michigan Sugar in Carrollton, retiring after many years of loyal and dedicated service. The role of his lifetime, one he treasured and cherished above all others, was being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A family man at heart, Bob found his greatest joy among family, they truly made his heart feel happy and full. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. Bob also enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards with his family. His little piece of heaven was going up state creating lifelong memories with those he loved. Bob will forever be remembered for his steady and strong presence, quick wit and innate ability to joke and connect with others, selfless dedication to his family, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Eva “Maggie” M. Poineau of Zilwaukee; two daughters and one son: Vanessa Poineau of Bay City; Katie (Nicholas) SanMiguel of Caro, Robert (Rita) Poineau Jr. of Zilwaukee; nine grandchildren: Taylor Brissette and her fiancé, Anthony Verdusco, Isaac Newton and his fiancée, Ashley Ewald, Robert Lee Poineau III, Blair Newton, Gabriel SanMiguel, Abel SanMiguel, Olivia Poineau, Ava SanMiguel, and Emma SanMiguel; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Verdusco; a sister, Marianne (Bill Snyder) Poineau Woody; and a brother-in-law, Gary Martin. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Donna Poineau; five siblings, Richard (Geraldine) Poineau, Beverly (Larry) Hartl, Nina (Arden) Brown, James Poineau, and his infant brother, Johnny Poineau; and two brothers-in-law, Ed (Marlene) Martin and Ronnie (Donna) Martin.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at MyMichigan Saginaw for all the love and care they provided to Bob, as well as the family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, Michigan, 48603. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the family c/o Eva “Maggie” Poineau.
