Richard Allen Soriteu

Richard Allen "Rick" Soriteu of Freeland, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in Thomas Township. He was 59 years old. Richard Allen Soriteu was born on September 7, 1964, in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, at Westover Air Force Base to Shirley Mae (Smith) Soriteu and the late Samuel Wesley Soriteu. He was a proud 1984 graduate of Carrollton High School. Following graduation, he began working as a floor finisher for his stepfather at Quality Floor Sanding. Following 30 years of loyal and dedicated service, Rick became the owner and operator of the company. As a young boy he met, Michelle Quinn, a next-door neighbor. Eventually they dated, fell in love and were united in marriage for 20 years in December of 1991. A family man at heart, he loved being a father more than anything in the world, especially providing for his daughters. They were the light of his life and made his life feel full and complete. Rick faithfully attended all his daughters' sporting and school events. As a young man, he enjoyed playing drums as well as boxing. Rick was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. He also enjoyed riding and racing dirt bikes, especially at Polka Dots Motorcycle Club where he was a longtime member. Though he could be a little quiet at first, once Rick came to know people, he could talk endlessly, especially on topics that interested him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and would selflessly help anyone in need. He will forever be remembered for his perfectionism and humbleness, for being an excellent cook, for teaching his daughters the love of dirt biking, for creating a beautiful garden for his family.

Surviving are two daughters: Jessica Soriteu of Saginaw; Madison Bridges of Bay City; three grandson: Taeton Tovar, Bo Bridges, and Nash Bridges; mother and stepfather, Shirley (Terry) Reimus of Freeland; a sister, Kimberly Watkins of Freeland; stepmother, Sue Soriteu and the late father, Samuel Soriteu of Bay City; a stepsister and three stepbrothers: Lori (John) Bowen of Harrison; Kip Meserva of Saginaw; Martin Wrege of Saginaw; and Jason Wrege of Essexville. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, cousins, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
