Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Covenant HealthCare – Harrison, with his family at his side. He was 99 years old. 

The son of the late Nelson Richard and Bertrell May (Yaryan) Davis, Dick was born on November 18, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1943. Dick proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps until he was Honorably Discharged. He married Joan Marie Rouech on January 15, 1955. They shared 60 wonderful years together. Joan preceded him in death on May 5, 2015. Dick was a machinist at Helfrecht Machine Company for 42 years. He found immense joy in farming as a hobby, especially continuing the Davis Tradition in cultivating strawberries. Dick was a member of the SVRC Club and had a passion for model airplanes. He was an avid golfer. Additionally, he was a skilled gunsmith who crafted many exquisite guns. Dick will fondly be remembered for his dedication to craftmanship. His skillful artistry as a woodworker was evident in the meticulous attention to detail in many of his projects and furnishings. 

Surviving are his sons and daughters, Jeffrey Davis, Roland (Michelle) Davis, Jeanne Davis, Julie Davis, Stephanie (Lee) Foster, Nelson (Tami) Davis, Susan Holloway, Mary Davis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Besides his wife and his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothea Stowe. 

Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Julie Bailey will officiate with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Mausoleum and Cemetery. Military Honors will take place under the auspices of the United States Army and American Legion Post 439. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the funeral chapel, and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral chapel. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer’s Association.
