Our beloved Poppy, who was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the tender age of 85 years.

The son of the late John and Irene (Jungerheld) Lodge, Richard was born on January 21, 1938, at St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan. Richard married Madeline Mantz and shared 46 wonderful years together. She survives him. Richard retired from General Motors after many years of loyal and dedicated service. He will fondly be remembered for his wit and charm that captured all hearts. Our Poppy was known to entertain his many friends and family with his amazing singing talent and high intellect on just about everything.

Left to cherish his memory besides his wife, Madeline Lodge; sister: Sally Klemish; daughter: Nikki Payton; step-children: Pam Snyder, Scott (Lyn) Fink, Larry Costin, Eric Costin, Michele (Randy) Nolf; grandchildren: Bill Hayes and family, Scott and Micah Freiberg, Brandi and Rachelle Slater, Malik Costin-Payton, Brazil Payton; great-granddaughter: Savannah Slater; and two very dear friends: Ines Novak, Duane Slater. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, extended family, friends.

Besides his parents; Richard is preceded in death by his daughter: Madelaine LaFlure; son-in-law: Tracy Payton, Sr.; grandchildren: Sherry LaFlure, Bob Hayes; sister and brothers: Barbara Andrus, John Lodge, Jim Lodge.

Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Scott Cowling will officiate with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 a.m. on Saturday until the time of service at the funeral chapel.
