Richard William Lane Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and esteemed firefighter for the City of Saginaw Fire Department, passed away on April 16, 2024. 

Richard was born in Saginaw, Michigan in 1938 to his loving parents Richard Lane and Evelyn Moffett Husen. 

Richard not only served his community as a firefighter but also bravely served his country as a United States Army Paratrooper. His commitment to protecting others extended beyond his professional roles and into every aspect of his life.

Aside from his admirable career achievements, Richard had a passion for hunting and wood carving. He found solace in the outdoors and took great joy in expressing his creativity through carving beautiful pieces from wood.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Mardell (Douglas) Lane. They were united in marriage on February 17, 1961. He leaves to cherish his memory one son Richard (Kris) Lane; grandson Erik (Amber) Lane; great-grandchildren Zayden and Ryan Lane; and one brother Gene Husen.

Richard was predeceased by his parents Richard Lane and Evelyn Moffett Husen; his brothers Dean and Mike Husen; and infant daughter Linda Sue Lane. 

Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Heart Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
