Richard "Dick" Francis Wolverton

Our loving husband, father, and brother passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 23rd, 2023, in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 75. Dick was born in Saginaw to the late Francis & Donna (Harris) Wolverton. He grew up in Burt and graduated from Chesaning High School prior to enlisting in the Marine Corp where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Dick met Linda Sue Cepak on a blind date arranged through a mutual friend and the two would soon become inseparable, marrying on November 10th, 1979, and spending over 44 years of marriage together. She survives him. He earned an associate degree in Skilled Trades from Delta College and spent his working years as a pipefitter and tinsmith for the Eaton Corporation, retiring in 1997. Always needing to stay active, Dick then worked as a custodial maintenance worker for Merrill Schools, and passionately served his community as part of the school board, village board, and Farm Fest committee. He was honored for this service by being named Citizens of the Year with Linda. In his free time, Dick enjoyed woodworking and was renowned for the cookies he baked. He also enjoyed going on countless cruises throughout the years, serving as something of a trip director for his friends and family. Dick loved to laugh and, more importantly, he loved to make other people laugh, a talent he passed on to his sons. He was witty and could find humor in just about anything.

Dick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Wolverton; sons Brett Wolverton & Todd (girlfriend Krystal Williams) Wolverton; and siblings Tom (Trudy) Wolverton, Jim (Diane) Wolverton, Dave (Carol) Wolverton, and Nancy (Rick) Cross; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and the countless friends he made throughout the community he loved.

Dick was preceded in death by his sister Margie Wicker.

A funeral liturgy for Dick will take place at 11:00am on Friday, December 1st, 2023, at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 419 S. Midland St. Merrill, MI 48637, with Rev. Fr.
