Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the age of 83 years.

The son of the late Earl and Arlene (Smith) Shepherd was born on March 10, 1940 in Saginaw. He married Susan Trommer on November 8, 1958; she survives him.  Raymond retired from farming following many years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and euchre player. He was also a member of the National Farmer’s Organization (NFO) and a very active member and longtime elder of Second Presbyterian Church of Saginaw.

Surviving besides his wife of 64 years, Susan are their children: Irene (John) Sensabaugh; Mark (Annette) Shepherd; Bruce (Peggy) Shepherd; Laura (Tom) Bosley; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Ada Strasel, Lee (Pat) Shepherd, Doris Newton, Dorothy Sackrider, Carol (Joe) Mellentine, Jeanie Walton, Bonnie (Paul) Savard; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his son, Ken Shepherd, Ray’s siblings and in-laws: Alan Strasel, Stan Newton, Gladys (Neil) Detloff, Glen Shepherd, Ken Sackrider, Cliff Walton, Marlene (Dick) Brugge.

In accordance with Raymond’s wishes cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will take place at 12:00 Noon, Monday March 20, 2023 at Second Presbyterian Church, 2665 Midland Rd.  Rev. Ruth Estell will officiate.
