Peter "Pete" J. Mureiko

Peter “Pete” J. Mureiko of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather went home to be with the Lord, with his family by his side on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Great Lakes Rehab Center in Saginaw. He was 84 years old. Peter J. Mureiko was born on the family farm on May 3, 1941, in Chesaning, Michigan, to the late Peter Paul and Helen Stella (Majewski) Mureiko. As a young boy, the family moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where he remained his entire life. He was a proud 1959 graduate of Saginaw High School. Pete honorably served his country in the United States Army from November 12, 1963, to October 30, 1965. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, JoAnn Hiser, through friends. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage of May 14, 1966, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Saginaw; she survives him. Pete worked as a kilts operator for Saginaw Malleable Iron for 28 ½ years of loyal and dedicated service; retiring in June 1989. The role he loved the most, one he treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a longtime and faithful member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where he sang in the choir, assisted in mowing the lawn, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Pete enjoyed spending time with family at the pool, visiting the Pulasky Hall, but what he loved the most was ice fishing. He was an excellent artist and could draw anything anyone wanted. Pete was also a gifted and talented woodworker creating many beautiful picture frames over the years. Though he could be stubborn, he will forever be remembered lovingly by his family as “cheap Pete”, and his kindness and compassion for his family, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, JoAnn Mureiko of Saginaw; a daughter, Mary (Daniel) Wreggelsworth of Saginaw; a daughter-in-law, Tessy Mureiko of Saginaw; four grandchildren: Danielle and Hunter Wreggelsworth; Nicholas Murieko; and Thomas (Kylie) Murieko all of Saginaw.

He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Mureiko; parents, Peter and Helen Mureiko; father and mother-in-law, Allen and Mary Hiser.
