Paula Heidi Spear (Green)

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away in her home in Saginaw on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, from complications with Muscular Dystrophy. Paula was born on April 26th, 1959, in Flint, Michigan, to Rosemary (Ducham) Green and the late Keith Francis Green, and was a 1977 graduate of Merrill high School. She worked for General Motors for over 21 years, retiring as a scrap coordinator. It was at GM that she met Michael “Mike” Spear. They went out for a drink after work and were married before you knew it, on June 5th, 1992. He survives her. Paula had many passions in her life. She always looked nice, making sure to have her nails done and go shopping to pick out just the right outfit. Paula loved music, especially rock and roll, and was an avid concert goer who took many of her friends and family members to their first shows. She had a huge heart for animals, supporting many animal charities and making sure the squirrels and stray cats in the neighborhood always had something to eat and a warm place to stay. Most important to her was her family; she loved her grandkids and treated her countless nieces and nephews as if they were her children. Paula is remembered as being a people person with a big heart full of kindness who made friends everywhere she went, and as someone who loved life and her family more than anything.

Paula is survived by her loving husband Mike Spear; mother Rosemary Green; children Brandon Spear and Amy (Fiancé Chris Koski) Spear; grandchildren Kylie, Arielle, and August; siblings Penny (Randy) Slick, Pat (Laura) Green, Chris (Terri) Green, Wendy (Jerry) Kienitz, Todd Green, Brandi (Fred) Green-Lampe, and Coleen (Chris) Doerner; siblings-in-law Roger (Linda) Spear and Thomas (Sandra) Spear; and special uncle Ray Ducham who was like a brother to her; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, friends, countless animal companions, and special friends Pamela Radick and Nancy Griffith who helped her during her times of need with her Muscular Dystrophy.

Paula was preceded in death by father Keith Green; stepfather Charles Athey; mother-and-father-in-law Marilyn and Keith Spear; brother Brady Green; and sister-in-law Dawn Jones.

A funeral liturgy for Paula will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 8th, 2023, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 St. Mary Dr. Hemlock MI 48626, with Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp S.J. presiding. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 7th, 2023, from 4:00-8:00pm at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N Miller Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609, and from 10:00am until the time to service on Friday at the church. Burial is to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
