Patricia Ann “Pat” O’Brien of Saginaw, Michigan
Our beloved friend went home to be with the Lord following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Edgewood Assisted Living. She was 91 years old. Patricia Ann O’Brien was born on February 20, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late James and Irene (Navarre) O’Brien. Following the death of her parents, she was raised by two aunts. Pat graduated from high school in Toledo, Ohio, and furthered her education by taking college classes as well. A professional businesswoman by every sense of the word, Pat moved to Saginaw, Michigan, to take an administrative position at Delta College. Never letting opportunity pass her by, she later began working for the Wickes Corporation where she served as secretary to the president. On September 13, 1973, Pat founded Audio Central Alarm, becoming a successful business owner and operator in the Saginaw community. In 1975, she purchased her first building on S. Washington Ave. In 1988, Pat bought the building next door housing the administration and sales staff. A pioneering force, she was a tireless entrepreneur whose dedication and vision built a thriving business that’s become a cornerstone of the community. Her work ethic is unmatched, and her pride in what she’s created is both well-earned and deeply inspiring. Pat’s home was her sanctuary. Though she was a private person, she loved her friends dearly, usually preferring small intimate gatherings, long conversations over the phone, or simply sending a text message. Pat believed in the social justice and welfare for all animals, especially all her beloved schnauzers’ Bruce I, Bruce II, Bruce III, Holly I, Holly II, Misty I and Misty II. She was a co-founding member of the Friends of the Animal Shelter, hosted her own pet grief support group, and member of the Animal Control Advisory Council. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed cheering for all her Detroit teams, especially the Detroit Red Wings. She will forever be remembered for as a loyal, devoted, and loving friend, for the compassion and forgiveness she had for all she cared about, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are her dearest friends whom she considered like family, Scott Valentine of Saginaw; Joyce Petrie of Saginaw; Brett Maddox of Saginaw; and Brandi Sly of Saginaw; Steve Wagner of Montrose; a nephew, Garry (Nancy) Navarre of Indianapolis, IN; a niece, Nancy Merrill of Toledo, OH; her beloved Audio Central Alarm Staff, who mourn her presence; and all of the friends she made within the animal community. Also surviving are countless extended family and friends, too numerous to mention, but held closely to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Irene O’Brien.
A visitation celebrating her life will be held between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Home, 4480 Mackinaw Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Whispering Meadow Pet Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or Undercover Angels Animal Rescue. Please share your thoughts and memories with her friends and family at the funeral home or through www.casefuneralhome.com.
