Passed away at Covenant on January 12, 2012 at the age of 83. Born April 19, 1928 in Horicon, WI to the late Frederick and Suzanna (Lehnherr) Pankow, where he was raised on a farm. He attended prep school in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Concordia Lutheran Seminary, St. Louis, MO. He married Shirley Masch in 1952 in Detroit, MI. He served in North Dakota for five years prior to moving to Hemlock, MI where he served St. Peter Lutheran until his retirement in 1997. He is survived by his wife Shirley and children David (Kae) Pankow, Hemlock, Paul Pankow, Hemlock, John Pankow, Saginaw Township, Sue (Claus) Holtrop, Zilwaukee. Four grandchildren Janae (Dallas) Smock, Zeeland, Sarah Pankow and fianc Derek Hirschman, Hemlock, John Christian and Jacob Holtrop, Zilwaukee, great- grandson Bodhi Smock and great grandchild baby Smock due in July. He served on many boards and with several community organizations. He loved gardening with lilies being his favorite and also attending grandchildrens sporting events and activities at his beloved St. Peter Lutheran School. He was a strong advocate of Christian education and supported his school with love and lots of hugs. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and supporting staff for their loving, professional, and courageous care given to dad. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd. Hemlock. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday and then at the church from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the funeral service.
