Norris L. Powe, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old.

Born on October 15, 1934, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to the late Edna Powe, Norris spent his formative years in Mississippi before making Saginaw, Michigan, his home in 1952. At just 18, he began his career at General Motors Malleable Iron, where he became a skilled millwright and later served as a UAW benefits representative. His work was marked by integrity, dedication, and a deep commitment to advocating for his fellow workers.

In 1954, Norris married Lola M. Alexander, the love of his life. Their marriage spanned nearly 70 years, a testament to enduring love and partnership, until Lola’s passing on July 20, 2023.

A man of unwavering faith, Norris was a devoted member of St. Joseph Parish. He actively participated in the Knights of Columbus and gave generously of his time to support church activities and community events. His quiet strength and servant heart touched many lives.

Norris is survived by his children: Judith, Angela, and Christopher (Sonya Powe); grandchildren: Amaka Orogbu-White (Derek White), Braeden Powe, and Ethan Powe; and siblings: Leanna Niles and Joseph Powe. He was preceded in death by his children Sheila Powe and Marlon Powe.

His legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to family and faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

"He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly." — Acts 10:2 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you." — John 14:1–4

Details regarding Norris’s final resting place are currently pending and will be shared with family and friends once confirmed.
