Michael William “Mike” “Santa” Schneider of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was 77 years old. Michael William Schneider was born in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Maurice and Aryel (Glick) Schneider. He attended Saginaw Public Schools. Mike proudly enlisted in the United States Army serving state side until his honorable discharge. An entrepreneur at heart, he had the mind of a successful businessman and owned and operated various business throughout his life, including: Flash Back Lounge in California, a security firm in California, a lawncare company in Saginaw, and a plethora of other successful business. He was a proud member of the Teamsters, as well as the United Way, and received many awards and acknowledgements for his extraordinary hard work. The role of his lifetime, one he treasured and cherished above all others, was to be a loving and devoted grandfather; however, a close second place was playing Santa Claus throughout the winter season. Any place Santa was needed, Mike selflessly answered the call. He was in countless parades and participated in many gathering events in South Carolina, Delaware, Michigan, and California, wherever Santa was needed. Always friendly and outgoing, Mike made friends wherever he landed, especially within the music industry – mostly 1960’s and 1970’s Billboard stars. He found peace and tranquility in the quiet moments, especially boating. Though he could be stubborn, he will forever be remembered for his drive and hard work ethic, for his quick wit and one-liners, for the love and kindness he had for his family, especially his grandchildren, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.

Surviving are a son, Robert (Alicia) Schneider of Saginaw; four daughters: Michelle (Kevin) Mundt of Lansing; Gina DeShano of West Branch; Lisa McKenzie of Toledo; and Tammy Kaiser of GA; three grandchildren: Anthony Schneider and his fiancée Marissa Koepplinger of Saginaw; Benjamin (Kayla Kelly) Schneider of Saginaw; Danielle (Chris) Wasney of Saginaw; seven great-grandchildren: Brayden Schneider of Saginaw; AJ Schneider of Saginaw; Scarlett Schneider of Saginaw; Asher Wasney of Saginaw; Steven Schneider of Saginaw; Delilah Wasney of Saginaw; Greyson Schneider of Owosso; a special nephew, Bill (Lisa Duke) Schneider. Also surviving are countless nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Aryel Schneider; a brother, Bill Schneider.

Honoring Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private gathering will take place graveside at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
