Passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the age of 82 years. Michael was born on February 14, 1943, in Anderson, IN. He was the son of the late Francis S. and Hilda M. (Schoger) Humphrey. He was a graduate of Madison Heights High School in Anderson, Indiana. Following graduation, he attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, graduating with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. Michael was a longtime educator with the Swan Valley School District with 29 years of service, serving nine years as the Athletic Director. He was an avid golfer winning the Saginaw District Golf Association Tournament in 1988 and 1998. Michael followed with District senior titles in 2000, 2008, and 2010. He was also a past member of Maple Hill Golf Club. While living in Lakeland, Florida during the winter months, he became a passionate nature photographer capturing stunning photos of both birds and alligators. Above all, he adored his children and grandchildren, spending as much time with them as possible, especially at Chinese buffets. He will forever be remembered as a kind and caring man, who was reliable beyond measure.
Surviving are his two sons: Tod Humphrey of Lansing; Ryan (Kim) Humphrey of Portland; three grandchildren: Jesse Depre of Lansing; Shane Humphrey of Stoneboro, PA; Anna Humphrey of Allendale; and a special friend, Alice Spaeth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Leslee Turner.
