Our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the age of 76 years.
Mike was born on July 19, 1949, son of the late Clarence and Hazel (Johnson) Burden, in Saginaw. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1968 and went on to serve in the United States Navy. On May 23, 1975, Mike married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Cordingly, she survives him. He began his career with General Motors, starting on the line, receiving inspection and in 2006, he retired after 30 dedicated years as a metallurgist. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and served as Lay Minister, with the Daughters of Isador and Knights of Peter Claver. Mike enjoyed vegetable gardening, tending to his lawn, bird watching, fishing, golfing and University of Michigan Football, Go Blue! He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking pictures while bird watching and meeting new people. It’s fair to say, he never met a stranger. Mike will be remembered for his hearty laugh, kindness and heart of gold.
Mike will be sorely missed by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Burden; sons, Michael (Darcy) Burden and Patrick Burden; grandchildren, Benny, Ally and Charlie; brother, Clarence “Butch” (Cinde) Burden, sister, Sandra Burden (Howard Gibson, Sr.); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his special cousin, Tom Burden. He was predeceased by his brother, Gary Burden.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, September 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Avenue. Fr. Frank Voris, O.F.M., Cap will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Joseph Catholic Church.
