Maureen Elizabeth O'Toole

Maureen Elizabeth O’Toole, formerly of Merrill, Michigan, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Urbana Place Senior Living. She was 74 years old.

Maureen was born on August 17, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Robert and Doreen (Bigelow) O’Toole. She was a proud 1968 graduate of Merrill High School and attended Delta College.

Maureen was employed in several positions at Consumers Energy, retiring after many years of loyal and dedicated service.

The role of her lifetime, one she loved more than anything else in this world, was being a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother. Her love for family was at the heart of her being. Maureen was a huge Elvis fan and loved to dance. She was a great baker, best known for her yummy cinnamon rolls and cutout cookies! She was a longtime and former member of St. John XXIII Parish - Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Maureen also attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church and helped with after Mass duties. Though she could often be quiet, she will forever be remembered for being a loving and caring soul, and for creating many beautiful memories and stories that will live on forever.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Terry O’Toole and is survived by her daughter, Carrie (Ken) Fox of Champlin, MN; son, Chad (Christine) Tolfree of East Lansing, MI; five grandchildren: Dawson, Carter and Camden Fox; Drew and Sara Tolfree; two sisters and a brother: Connie (Rick) Kettelhohn of Saginaw, MI; Chris (Julie) O’Toole of Broomfield, CO; Michelle (Marty) Lass of Chaska, MN; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Urbana Place for all the love, care, and kindness they provided for Maureen and her family over the last few years.
