Matthew “Matt” John Duane Schulz of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021. He was 38 years old. Matthew John Duane Schulz was born on October 7, 1982, the second of two children born to Rosemary Ann (Clark) Pesce and Mark Allen Schulz. He received his GED certification from Washtenaw County in 2002. He met the love of his life, Ashley Ann Cronkright, on July 4, 2002, at his aunt and uncle’s home. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on December 18, 2010; she survives him. Matt was a carpenter by profession but considered the jack of all trades. He found peace and tranquility in nature especially fishing and camping. He was an excellent poker player but did equally as well playing darts and shooting pool. Above all, Matt loved and cherished spending time with his children and his beloved dog, Sadie. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart, his beautiful smile, and for selflessly putting others before himself.

Surviving are his wife, Ashley Ann Schulz of Saginaw; four children: Genesis Naylor of Saginaw; Matthew, Brooke, and Kelsey Schulz all of Saginaw; mother, Rosemary (Joe) Pesce of Saginaw; father, Mark Allen (Melissa) Schulz of TN; father- and mother-in-law, Glenn and Julie Cronkright of Saginaw; brother, Christopher Allen (Kristen) Schulz of Saginaw; sister, Madison Pesce of Saginaw; grandparents: Wanda and Bob Gilman of Saginaw. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: John and Shirley Clark.

A Memorial Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Pastor Ron Lovell will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to his children c/o Ashley Schulz.
